"It is impossible to create a perfect system, one that is free of all mistakes, free of all discrimination with respect to race or economic circumstance or geography. To have a consistent, perfect death penalty system, I have concluded, after looking at everything I’ve been given, that that’s impossible in our state. I think it’s the right and just thing to abolish the death penalty."- On March 9, 2011, Quinn signed the bill which abolished the death penalty in Illinois.
The
Ex-Governor of Illinois, Pat Quinn is one great example of a coward leader who
is scared of criminals but DO NOT MIND killing the innocent unborn babies. He
must be a Marxist (Anti Death Penalty but Pro Abortion).

Illinois Catholic Gov. Pat
Quinn Gives Pro-Abortion Award
State Steven Ertelt Nov 3, 2011
| 11:54AM Springfield, IL
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is coming under fire
from the Catholic bishops in his state for agreeing to present a leadership award
for a pro-abortion group.
Quinn agreed to present an award at a November 17
event sponsored by Personal PAC, a pro-abortion political action committee that
supports pro-abortion candidates in Illinois and also gave nearly $500,000 to
Quinn’s election campaign in 2010 in cash and campaign support. The Catholic
Conference of Illinois has condemned Quinn, saying the award honors those
“supporting the legal right to kill children in their mothers’ wombs.”
“We
deeply regret the governor’s decision to present this award, which so closely
associates him with a political action group whose purpose is contrary to the
common good,” the Illinois Catholic bishops
said in a joint statement in response to the news Quinn would give the award. “With this action, Gov. Quinn has gone beyond a political
alignment with those supporting the legal right to kill children in their
mother’s wombs to rewarding those deemed most successful in this terrible
work.”
The
statement stated “we reaffirm our desire and policies
that those acting in the manner of the governor should not be given special
recognition on church property or at functions held in support of church
ministry.” Cardinal Francis George and the and bishops from the Peoria,
Springfield, Rockford, Belleville and Joliet dioceses signed it.
Quinn’s
office defended his appearance, according
to the Chicago Sun Times, and said “The governor is
attending Personal PAC’s annual lunch, and will be presenting a leadership
award to a woman who is a rape survivor and preeminent advocate for victims of
rape.”
The
newspaper also said Personal PAC president Terry Cosgrove has attacked the
bishops for condemning Quinn’s decision and said they were just upset that
Quinn beat pro-life state Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) in last year’s
election.
“The governor is saying a few kind words about a woman who has been raped and had the courage to tell her story,” he said. “The Catholic Bishops attacking him for that and accusing women of killing their children is a new low in public discourse, even for them.”“They’re getting bent out of shape because of the whole Brady thing. Everyone is still resentful that Personal PAC played a big role in getting Pat Quinn elected,” Cosgrove said.
But
Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, told LifeNews he
supports Cardinal Francis George and the five Illinois bishops.
“We at Priests for Life thank the bishops of Illinois for their clear and firm stand in regard to Gov. Quinn,” Father Pavone said. “The faithful around the country are encouraged by actions like these that not only protect the integrity of the Church’s witness to her teachings, but also save human lives. The Governor’s actions not only contradict Catholic teaching; they contradict the meaning of public office. We need public servants who can tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public.”“Moreover, as a worldwide network of priests, the Priests for Life association is ready to help our brother priests to carry out the policy articulated by the bishops, and to do so in a way that is clear and compassionate,” he said.

Pat Quinn and a Lie Well
Told
Posted at 11:39h in Pro-Life News
“The history of our race, and each individual’s experience, are sown thick with evidence that a truth is not hard to kill and that a lie told well is immortal.” – Mark Twain
Personal
PAC, the extreme pro-abortion political action committee, has asked Pat Quinn
to present the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award” at their upcoming fundraiser. Pat
Quinn, a self-professed “Catholic” has complied.
When
news of this reached Illinois’ Catholic Bishops, they made no equivocations
about what this means. Here is their statement:
I think this is great!
People who publicly profess Catholicism (or any
religion for that matter) should be held accountable in grave matters such as
abortion. Quinn’s life presents a distorted view of Catholicism to the public
and it may well confuse Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
Beyond Catholicism, we should all be doing this.
Religious authorities, voters, interest groups, citizens and all who seek to
advance the common good (religious or not) have an obligation to hold elected
official accountable to protecting innocent human life. Your voice should be
heard whenever a politician who represents you is standing against life!
I don’t mean this in the sense that you should just
go vote against these politicians. I mean that your voice should be heard by them
and by everyone around you. Because of the fact that “…a truth is not hard to
kill and that a lie told well is immortal.”
In response to the Bishops’ statement, Quinn
commented with a lie well told. Your voice being heard can keep the truth alive
and kill an immortal lie.
Quinn artfully (and dishonestly) responded by
sidestepping the issue of the killing of pre-born children.
From the SunTimes:
“I am going to the event to present an award to a woman who was a victim of rape and who is a very strong advocate of helping rape victims all over our state [and] our country,” Quinn said Thursday. “I really feel that’s a proper, Christian thing to do to honor someone who’s doing someone [sic] that helps the community at large.”Asked whether he’s offended that George and the other bishops were questioning his credentials as a Roman Catholic, Quinn said, “No, I just follow my conscience. That’s all you can do in life.”
That, my friends, is a lie well told.
I’m sure he’s not making up the fact that the
recipient is a victim of rape, but he’s certainly not being honest about the
situation.
He is presenting the “Pro-Choice Leadership Award”
(aka the “You’re really good at promoting abortion award”) at a fundraiser for
an organization whose sole mission is the radical expansion of abortion. The
crimes perpetrated against the recipient of that award do not change the truth.
Unfortunately, Quinn uses the horrible crime of
rape to kill the truth and tells a lie that will likely gain immortality.
I’m not talking about this because I’m Catholic.
I’m not talking about this because abortion is ‘a religious issue.’ I’m not talking
about this because I’m trying to influence an election.
I’m talking about this for two reasons.
First, because too often public officials are not
held accountable for their support of killing pre-born humans. I’m really glad
that the Bishops called Quinn out so publicly. (Please take a moment to thank
them below)
Second, because we need to be on guard for these
well told lies.
We must tell the truth better
than they tell lies. We must anticipate the lies with well told truths!
—
I applaud the Bishops for their
statement!
I urge you to contact the Bishops
(even if you’re not Catholic) and thank them for holding Pat Quinn accountable
to his stated faith.

Pat Quinn Defies Bishops to Support Abortion

On Thursday, November 17, pro-abortion Illinois
Governor Pat Quinn will present an award at a fundraising lunch for
pro-abortion lobbying group Personal PAC and the Pro-Life Action League will be
there to protest with graphic images showing the reality of abortion. Get all
the details on the protest here.
We protested this very event last year, but the
Governor’s actions are making it even more imperative this year. Check out a
video of that protest here.
We at the League were outraged, if not surprised,
when we heard that Quinn, a cradle Catholic, would be lending his support to
Personal PAC, an organization whose stated mission is “electing pro-choice
candidates to state and local office in Illinois.” It would, perhaps, be more
surprising had Quinn not received nearly $500,000 in support from Personal PAC
during his run for Governor last year.
Illinois
Bishops Take Quinn to Task
The reaction of Illinois’ Catholic bishops to the
news has sparked nationwide interest, as all of the state’s bishops, led by
Francis Cardinal George, released a statement decrying Quinn’s action, saying,
“With this action, Gov. Quinn has gone beyond a political alignment with those
supporting the legal right to kill children in their mother’s wombs to
rewarding those deemed most successful in this terrible work.”
Shockingly, Quinn seemed completely unfazed by the
bishops’ calling out his sin and calling him to repentance. When asked about
it, Quinn said:
I am going to the event to present an award to a woman who was a victim of rape and who is a very strong advocate of helping rape victims all over our state [and] our country. I really feel that’s a proper, Christian thing to do to honor someone who’s doing someone that helps the community at large.
You read that right. Supporting an organization
whose sole purpose is electing candidates who will advance the abortion
industry’s agenda is “a proper, Christian thing to do.”
Quinn’s Motive: Political Self-Interest
While it’s been clear for years that Quinn has no
regard whatsoever for what is the proper, Christian thing to do, it’s quite
another thing to hear him state outright that he has absolutely no clue about
what it means to be a Catholic.
Further thickening the plot is the fact that the
rape victim whom Quinn will be honoring was featured in a Personal PAC ad
during last year’s election that some say swayed the vote and gave Quinn the
victory over pro-life candidate Bill Brady. The political self-interest in
Quinn’s motives is as plain as day.
The Illinois Catholic Conference responded to
Quinn’s blatant insubordination saying,
Governor Quinn’s statement today that he is recognizing a rape victim for her advocacy work dodges the issue. Our hearts go out to any victim of rape, one of the most personally violent crimes against women. He is presenting an award—titled the Pro-Choice Leadership Award—at an event hosted by Personal PAC, an organization that describes itself as a ‘political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing pro-choice candidates to state and local office in Illinois.’ This action is irreconcilable with any honest profession of the Catholic faith, and it is what prompted the Bishops’ statement.
We here at the League are grateful to have such
courageous and God-loving bishops in our home state who are willing to stand up
against politicians like Quinn, whose support for abortion and disobedience are
a great cause for scandal both in and outside the Church.
Thank
Our Courageous Bishops!
Join us at the protest on the 17th if you can, and
please reach out to thank our bishops even if you’re not from Illinois. They
need to know that we support them when they take this kind of action. Their

Quinn says bishops who
attacked his abortion stance should have met with him first
Cardinal
acknowledges they didn't have all the facts before signing sharply worded
release
November 08, 2011|By Monique Garcia, Chicago Tribune
reporter
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn said the state's six Roman
Catholic bishops should have called and made an appointment if they had
concerns about his stance on abortion rights.
"I always feel that when you have an
issue that you're concerned about, the best thing to do is pick up the phone,
set up a time, an appointment, and come on in and have a face-to-face
dialogue," said Quinn, a Catholic who has long clashed with the church about
abortion rights.
Cardinal Francis George, leader of the Roman
Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, said Sunday that he regretted not having all
the facts when he allowed the Catholic Conference
of Illinois to issue a statement on behalf of the bishops criticizing Quinn's
affiliation with a political action committee that supports abortion rights.
But Quinn plans
to present an award Nov. 17 to an advocate for rape victims, Jennie Goodman, at
Personal PAC's annual luncheon.
"That's really the highest calling
of human beings, is to help your neighbor, and she's done that and she deserves
a lot of credit for it," Quinn said. "I just
think the cardinal and the bishops, they just made a mistake here trying to
single out this matter as something to be criticized."
Mary Massingale, communications director for the
Catholic Conference, declined to confirm whether the bishops or conference
staff had tried to meet with the governor.
"Any conversation a bishop has with the
governor is between the two of them," she said. "Catholic social
teaching, including its respect for human life, is well-known."
Tribune reporter Manya A.
Brachear contributed.
OUR COMMENTS:
We,
the members of Detachment 1010, supports ending abortion but retaining the use
of the death penalty. We agree that Pat Quinn is a good example of a Marxist
type, who abolish the death penalty but support the use of abortion. He claim
that it was not an easy decision to repeal capital punishment but he felt so
easy to support abortion.
We prayed he stepped
down as Governor and we are glad he did. Lech KaczyĆski who
was against abortion but favored the death penalty has a quote for both murder
victims and the innocent unborn:
