Prayer of Mourning for Victims of Abortion
by Ann Scheidler
Almighty Father, we come today to this place dedicated to the memory of those precious unborn babies whose lives were cut short because our nation failed to recognize their value and to protect them.We thank you for the beautiful words Our Lord Jesus spoke in His Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” And so we do mourn the loss of so many unborn lives. And yet we find comfort in your love and compassion and in our conviction that Jesus loves the little children. We pray that these victims of society’s callous policy of expediency are now safe in your loving arms, and that they know that we love them, and mourn that they never had the opportunity to show the world who they are.Lord, we know that at this very moment, in abortion clinics all over America, precious unborn babies are in danger of a horrendous death. We pray in fervent hope that someone will intercede for these little ones to spare their lives. But in the event their mothers choose abortion, we pray that you, as Father of all, will take these little ones to your bosom.Lord, we pray for our nation, that with Your grace and the tireless work of those of us who value each and every human life, the United States will reject abortion and become a county that appreciates and welcomes every child, no matter the circumstances of his conception. We pray for the mothers of these babies buried here [or memorialized here] that they come to recognize the tragedy of the choices they made and to turn to you for forgiveness and healing. We pray for the fathers of these babies that they mourn the loss of their fatherhood and the duty they had to protect their children, and that they turn to you and ask for forgiveness for their failure. We pray for the doctors, nurses and clinic staff involved in the death of these babies, that they turn away from the abortion industry and open their hearts to learn compassion for the innocent unborn victims of abortion. On this day, Lord, more than forty years after the sad day that Roe v. Wade legalized the killing of unborn babies, we ask You to give us renewed energy and hope that our nation will once again know a day when all life is sacred and protected in law.We ask all these things in the name of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

Crime Victims – A Prayer
“God, you are just. You are perfect
in all your judgments. You balance every scale. In time, all the accounts will
be settled. All truth will be told. All debts will be evenly scored. For now,
in this world, we can push for justice and labor for truth and fair payment,
but we must often settle for less. We pray for those who have suffered a grave
injustice, for those who have had something precious taken, broken, destroyed.
We pray for their souls, that the loss, which cannot be replaced, will be
filled with a miracle of comfort. Give the victims of crime the assurance that
you stand with them, that you hate injustice even more than they hate it. Come
close to the broken hearted. Console and join them in their anger. Teach them
how to be angry without turning bitter. Show them how to transfer their demand
for justice into your hands, in an act of forgiveness, which is not dropping
the charges, but trading the responsibility for pressing the charges to your
eternal court of heaven. God, be with those who have stood by as the wicked
seem to survive their wickedness. Give them patient hope that in the span of
eternity all truth will be told and all scales will be balanced. And as they
collapse into your perfect love and wisdom, teach them that sorrow alone is the
way into your deepest heart. And may they find you in their sorrow, and find
from you what only you can provide… A hope that does not disappoint. In Jesus…”

Blessed Father, I pray for the souls of our loved ones
taken too soon. I pray that justice will be served as you see fit. I pray that
those mourning souls left behind to grieve their loved ones be lifted up and
carried by you through their pain. Give them STRENGTH to face another day, HOPE
that their loved one is comforted in eternal Paradise and HEALING so that they
will remember with love and joy in their hearts and minds. Continue to hold our
loved ones in your Grace, comfort them and protect them. We know you gave your
only begotten son so that he may suffer for our sins and give everlasting life
in Heaven. For this Jesus, we thank you! Please bless every person who reads
this and is touched, every person who writes and is moved and every person
whose life is affected by the taking of one life by another. In your name I
pray, AMEN!
